Lucknow: The dusty village 6km off Mohan Road was a sleepy hamlet until bandits struck. While villagers expressed anger over the entire episode, they were particularly shocked and enraged over the gang-rape of the 11-year-old girl. They demanded immediate arrest and capital punishment for the perpetrators.
Impressions of blows with heavy objects like iron rods, the broken door latch, stains of blood on the wooden cot and the ransacked two-room semi-pucca house described the nightmarish experience the family faced on Tuesday night.

Even the exterior of the house was witness to the attack in which electricity wires had been cut off. Stains of blood near the tube-well and signs that she was dragged on the ground narrated the brutality the little girl underwent.
The two younger brothers of the rape survivor looked puzzled and fumbled, trying to describe the nightmare which struck their house in the wee hours.
"Our sister was taken away by men with iron rods. The men were not masked," said seven-year-old Himanshu (name changed). He also took the reporter to the fields and showed foot prints of the miscreants.
"My sister wanted to become a doctor but is now battling for her own life," he said.
Demanding public hanging of the culprits, Kalika Prasad, a resident of the locality for more than a decade, said, "Many anti-social elements loiter around the mango groves. They sit under the trees, gamble and drink. The place is only 1.5km from
Buddheshwar police outpost but police seldom visit this area."
Terming the incident disgusting, Akash Yadav said, "Never before has such a thing taken place here. Around 10 families live in this tiny hamlet. The atmosphere has become very depressing. The miscreants must be shot dead," he said.
The village is surrounded by mango groves and dusty roads lead to the small residential pocket which has eight houses. Some semi-finished houses are locked as they are not considered safe. There is one government primary school in the area.
