Muslim women form law board

LUCKNOW: The beleagured All-IndiaMuslim Personal Law Board took another beating on Tuesday when womenfolk of thecommunity, unhappy with treatment meted out to them by the parent body, formedtheir own board — All-India Muslim Women''s Personal Law Board at a meetinghere on Tuesday.A few months back Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan hadgiven a big jolt to the AIMPLB by forming Personal Law Board (Jadeed) ofBarelvis and took away a big chunk of its support.More recently Shias formedtheir own board making Maulana Mirza Mohammad Athar as itspresident.Talking to this correspondent on phone general secretaryof the women''s board Parveen Abdi charged AIMPLB with ignoring problems faced byMuslim women in the society.
