The aim behind getting a Motivation Hall constructed after Captain Manoj Pandey was to inspire the young blood.
LUCKNOW: The immortal memories of Captain Manoj Pandey, awarded Param Vir Chakra after the Kargil war, was enlivened by the National Cadet Corps on Wednesday with the inauguration of a 'Motivation Hall.' "The aim behind getting a Motivation Hall constructed after Captain Manoj Pandey was to inspire the young blood and be prepared to sacrifice their lives for the nation, just the way he did," said deputy director general, NCC directorate (UP), Brig DN Varma while addressing at the inaugural function of the hall.
For this, he said, various training programmes and felicitation ceremonies will be organised in the hall. The hall will also showcase the achievements and nationalistic aspirations of NCC, which happens to be the world's largest youth organisation. Captain Manoj Pandey was also an NCC cadet who was awarded by the then governor. The hall was inaugurated by GC Pandey, Captain Manoj Pandey's father. "Manoj's death is an irreparable personal loss. But what gives me the strength to move on is the fact that my son died for a meaningful purpose. I remember, as an NCC cadet Manoj used to say that he would do something for the nation and become immortal. He kept his words and attained a stature bigger than any son of the world. I feel extremely honoured to be referred as his father," he said. After the inauguration, an investiture ceremony in which the defence secretary and director general NCC's commendation badges and certificates were awarded to the cadets and officers who had distinguished themselves in various NCC activities during the training year 2006-07.
