Mother, daughter held for youth's murder

LUCKNOW: The woman lab technician of Balrampur hospital and her 16-year-old daughter were arrested by Ghazipur police for murder of Sudeep Das, the youth from Malda, West Bengal who was found dead on Monday. Simmy and her daughter were under watch and had been holed up inside their residence at sector 11 in Indiranagar from Monday onwards. Police arrested them around 4pm on Wednesday after postmortem report confirmed that Das died of multiple head injuries. Police also recovered a hockey stick from the house which had been used by the duo to attack Das on March 14.Das and the minor girl were at loggerheads over girl's growing friendship with another youth. Simmy decided to teach him a lesson and the duo killed Das. They covered the body with jute sacks and left for Uttarakhand then. When the duo arrived on Monday, the body was discovered. The duo tried to mislead investigators initially but confessed to their crime later. The girl was studying in IXth standard and came in contact with Das through a social networking site last year.
