LUCKNOW: Brothers of sitting member of Legislative Council turned sworn enemies on Friday noon. Rajiv Tripathi allegedly shot at his elder brother Akhilesh Tripathi (42) around 2.45pm in Krishnanagar area on Friday. Brothers of Arvind Tripathi alias Guddu are involved in a property and money related dispute.
On Friday, the family members of both the sides were having a heated argument outside Tripathi Bhavan, the family's home located near LDA turn in Krishnanagar area.
Rajiv's wife Renu and Akhilesh's wife Saroj were present on the scene.
Akhilesh demanded that Rajiv return the money owed to him as well as give him share in the family's ancestral property, said Saroj. Enraged Rajiv took out his licensed double barrel rifle and shot at Akhilesh. At the precise moment, Saroj pushed her husband and he managed to evade the shot. Other people present in the area intervened and separated the warring family.
Akhilesh filed a complaint against Rajiv and his wife Renu at Krishnanagar police station where a case of attempt to murder was lodged. The in-charge of Krishnanagar police Ram Sanehi Yadav said that the case had been registered and investigations were underway.
Saroj alleged that her husband had been kept at bay by other brothers of the Tripathi family who wanted to usurp his share. The couple does not have a child.
