Man held for blackmailing ex-girlfriend

LUCKNOW: A youth was arrested on charges of raping and blackmailing his former girl friend in Hasanganj on Sunday. According to police, resident of Wazirganj Mahesh Shukla (26) confessed to the crime and said that after three years of being in a relationship, the girl rejected him so he blackmailed her to teach her a lesson, said the police.
Shukla works as computer operator on contract.
Hasanganj police inspector P K Jha said Shukla was arrested after a girl lodged a complaint on Friday stating a youth had posted intimate photographs of her on a social networking site.
Police said Shukla admitted that when the girl broke their relationship a few days back, he uploaded her pictures on Facebook and demanded Rs 2 lakh from her to remove them. He had also exploited the girl sexually. He was arrested under charges of rape, 66/67 A IT Act for outraging modesty and extortion.
