Man held for faking robbery

Lucknow: A man was arrested for staging a fake loot incident to avoid paying money to his borrowers in Nigoha on Thursday.
The accused, identified as 22-year-old Salman Ahmed from Uttrawan village in the Nigoha police station area, was involved in the incident. On Wednesday night, around 9pm, Salman reported to Dial 112 that 7-8 unknown persons attacked him with a blade injuring his hands and forehead and robbed him of Rs 90,000.
Upon receiving this information, police from Nigohan police station reached the spot for investigation. They observed that Salman was wearing a winter protection jacket, which showed no cut marks. However, there were blade cut marks on his hands inside the jacket and on his forehead. The police stated that, prima facie, the incident appeared suspicious. Consequently, the team investigated the incident thoroughly and questioned Salman.
Salman admitted to his mistake and told the police that he owned a shop selling broilers in Mohanlalganj. He explained that he had taken loans from people and was under a huge debt, with many people pressuring him to repay the money. tnn
