Lucknow: Students, teachers and staff of Lucknow University will get a lounge and e-rickshaw facility to commute on the campus from the New Year.
The two facilities inaugurated on Thursday by vice-chancellor, Prof AK Rai on completion of two years in office will be free of cost.
“The lounge or student facility centre with a capacity of 30 persons will be opened on the ground floor of CPMT building on the main campus. It will have

WiFi

, air-conditioning and seating facility. Students and teachers can use it for conferences or discussions after taking permission from the dean student welfare,” said the VC while addressing mediapersons.
“Since LU campus is a no-vehicle zone, five e-rickshaws will be deployed at different gates of the university campus to ferry staff, teachers and students having any kind of physical disability. Elderly can also use the service,” he added.
Briefing about his plan for the next year, the VC said that the university will fill all the vacant teaching posts by March. This, he added, will help LU in improving its grades in ratings done by

National Institutional Ranking Framework

and National Accreditation and Assessment Council. Further, he said, infrastructure of hostels, classrooms and auditoriums will be improved. He also said that the university is working on plans to improve its financial condition.

“We are also the first among UP’s state universities to get

NIRF

ranking. Besides, we made our website more student friendly, reduced examination fees and added new courses. Owing to improvement in quality of education, 357 foreign students took admissions in various courses of LU this year, which is around 100% more than the previous session,” he added.
