LU violence: HC summons police, university top officials

Last month LU had denied admissions in post graduate courses to students who were expelled last year on charges of indiscipline. Some such students went on rampage on the campus on Wednesday, vandalizing property and assaulting teachers. LU officials claim that police deployed on the campus remained a mute spectator during the incident.
The university has been closed till further orders following the violence.
Allahabad high court
on Thursday took suo motu cognizance of violence in Lucknow University in which several teachers including chief proctor were assaulted by expelled student leaders on Wednesday.A bench of justices
Vikram Nath
and justiceRajesh Singh Chauhan
passed the order while taking into notice news paper reports. The HC has summoned vice-chancellor, registrar and Senior Superintendent of Lucknow on Friday at 10.15 a.m. to explain about the incident.The university has been closed till further orders following the violence.
