LUCKNOW: The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) carried out an afforestation drive in Vipul Khand of Gomtinagar on Friday. The drive was carried out amidst the presence of senior LDA officials including secretary, MP Mishra and chief engineer SN Tripathi.
Officials planted trees like `Neem', `Sagaun', `Pakad' and `Peepal' around foot paths and on dividers.
The LDA has been on a tree plantation spree for the past few days with more emphasis on the residential areas.
Meanwhile, LDA sent notices to buildings violating the various norms of the Urban Planning And Development Act-1973. While at least five buildings were handed over a notice for not having adequate fire safety norms, there were eight buildings which have not installed the rain water harvesting system. Another half a dozen buildings were also handed over a notice for not having the mandatory completion certificate.
But it were buildings which were not confirming to the building by-laws which pipped all. As many as 22 such buildings were served a notice by the authority. Likewise, some 15 buildings were served notice for land use violation - using residential areas for commercial purpose.
