‘Laxmanpuri se Lucknow tak’ at Mahotsava this year

LUCKNOW: The long-running theme of Lucknow Mahotsava—Lucknowi Tehzeeb—will be changed to ‘Laxmanpuri se Lucknow tak’ this year. Its venue has also been changed from

Kanshiram Smriti Upvan

to Awadh Shilpgram near Shaheed Path.

Held every year in November, Lucknow Mahotsava will begin on January 24, 2018. The annual cultural, art and food festival was postponed because of municipal elections this year.

The festival will be organised simultaneously with UP Diwas on the same grounds. However, cultural programmes of each will have different timings.

While UP Diwas will be celebrated in the daytime, the evening will be dedicated to Lucknow Mahotsava.

The festivals will be inaugurated by chief minister of Aditya Nath Yogi.

This is for the first time that UP Diwas will be celebrated to mark the establishment of Uttar Pradesh.

It was on January 24, 1950 that

was named Uttar Pradesh after the country’s independence. This was two days before the Constitution was adopted, said historian

According to district magistrate

Kaushal Raj Sharma

, the theme for UP Diwas will be ‘one district, one product’.

Additional district magistrate trans-Gomti Anil Kumar said that traditional stalls for each of the 75 districts would be set up apart from other shops and stalls.

Each stall will be dedicated to each district’s uniqueness, the core of UP Diwas.
