LUCKNOW: Furniture from Saharanpur, carpets from Bhadohi and honey from Lucknow were among the bestselling items at

Khadi Mahotsava

, which recorded sales worth Rs 8.35 lakh since its launch on October 2.


The event features over 100 stalls selling handicraft from states like Gujarat, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan.

“Items like furniture from Saharanpur, leather products, carpets from Bhadohi, aanwala murabba from Pratapgarh, handicraft from Kanpur, sheets from Amroha, towels from Sitapur, curtains from Mau and honey from Lucknow attracted most customers,” said an official.

department has been organising various events on each day. While it was a dance and magic show on Friday, there was a Bharatnatyam and folk dance recital on Saturday. The day also saw a ‘devi geet’ performance by poet Mithilesh Lakhnawi in the wake of the Navaratra festivities.

Visitors on Sunday would be treated to Awadhi music and kavi sammelan.

The event will conclude on October 13 with a fashion show which will highlight the versatility of khadi.
