Lucknow: The department of endocrine surgery of King George’s Medical University will raise awareness on breast cancer during its two-day annual conference KGMU Breast Update 2022 starting Friday.
Endocrine surgery HoD Dr Anand Mishra, who is also the organising chairman of the event, said, “Awareness on breast cancer is needed because early diagnosis of cancer have the best chance for successful breast-conserving surgery, in which only the cancerous area and a small portion of surrounding normal tissue is removed.” He said modern techniques like neo-adjuvant chemotherapy also have a chance to conserve breast even in advanced stages.
On the first day, discussions will be held on the theme ‘bridging the gaps’ focusing on issues that are socially important but often neglected. The second day will have the themes ‘learning through clinical cases’ and ‘let’s do oncoplasty’, where experts will demystify and popularise oncoplastic techniques.
