LUCKNOW: A history-sheeter from Gorakhpur running a job racket was thrashed and shot dead by assailants, who came in an Audi and a Scorpio, over a money dispute, in the house of a secretariat employee in SGPGI police station area on Wednesday morning.
The deceased, identified as Durgesh Yadav (35), was shot in his stomach. Police rushed Durgesh to KGMU Trauma Centre where he was declared brought dead.
Police said Durgesh, his brother Manvendra and friend Abhay had come to visit the tenants in the house of one Ajay Yadav, who is section officer in secretariat, on Saturday.

“Ajay had rented the second floor of his house to Somendra, Dharmendra and Sanjeet, all of Etah,” police officials said.
Manvendra told police that assailants came in two high-end cars around 8am.
“They came to the second floor straight away and started looking for Durgesh who was in bathroom. When Durgesh came out, they started thrashing him. They dragged Durgesh to main gate where they pumped a bullet in his stomach and fled,” he told police.
Manvendra identified two attackers as Manish Yadav of Farukkhabad and Palak Thakur of Gomti Nagar Extension.

Police nabbed Manish Yadav and Palak Thakur within five hours of the murder.
DCP East Charu Nigam said police have arrested the prime accused Manish Yadav and Palak Thakur, while hunt is on to nab others involved in the crime.
“Ajay Yadav had given the second floor of his house in sector 14 of Vrindavan Colony on rent to four persons without any agreement. Durgesh had arrived on Saturday night and was staying with the tenants,” said a police official.
“During probe and search, police recovered numerous seals, stamps, marksheets and documents of job seekers from across UP. Durgesh was probably the ring leader of the job racket. We are investigating whether he prepared fake marksheets also,” the DCP said.
Police recovered an identity card of a sub inspector from Manish Yadav, who has a criminal record, at the time of his arrest, besides the Scorpio in which he was fleeing. Police also found a video in which Palak is seen thrashing and threatening Durgesh before he was shot.
