Irani’s kisan panchayat in Amethi tomorrow

LUCKNOW: Union HRD minister Smriti Irani along with minister of state for agriculture and food processing Sanjeev Balliyan would be interacting with farmers at various kisan panchayats scheduled to be held in Amethi on Monday. Baliyan's presence at Amethi is likely to bring back the issue of huge crop loss due to unseasonal rain. His presence is also likely to rake up the issue of closure of the mega food park in the district.Amethi MP Rahul Gandhi had recently alleged that it was done at the behest of the Central government.
This would be Irani’s second visit to the constituency where she lost narrowly to Rahul after she got the significant cabinet berth of HRD. BJP insiders believe that after narrowly losing to the Congress vice-president, Irani is now nurturing the constituency for the Lok Sabha elections in 2019. Irani had also distributed saris to thousands of poor women in Amethi after she was made the cabinet minister.
On Tuesday, she will be holding kisan panchayats at three places and is also expected to visit the family members of farmers who allegedly committed suicide owing to huge crop loss. Irani and Baliyan would first address a kisan panchayat at Inauhna.
