Lucknow: Indian Medical Association (IMA) Lucknow branch hit the streets on Thursday to protest against the suicide by a female doctor in Rajasthan and demanded action against culprits of violence against medical fraternity. The doctors took out a march from
IMA
building to Shaheed Smarak.
Dr Archana Sharma had committed suicide in Rajasthan following mental harassment by police and family of a 22-year-old pregnant woman who died of postpartum haemorrhage during treatment and a case of murder was lodged against her.

Apart from IMA, representatives of UP Provincial Medical Health Services Association, KGMU Teachers’ Association, Lucknow Nursing Homes Association, Pathology Association, Women Doctor Wing, UP Nursing Homes Association, Rae Bareli Road Doctors Association, Indian Dental Association and Bar Association Lucknow also took part in the protest.
“IMA is taking the matter seriously and there may be a national level movement,” said IMA Lucknow chapter president Dr Manish Tandon. “There is anger about this incident. The culprits should be brought to book,” said vice president
