LUCKNOW: About a month after a Kanpur doctor, Anurag Mittal, was murdered in the AC coach of Shram Shakti Express on August 28, wife of an Indian Air Force (IAF) engineer disappeared under mysterious circumstances while travelling by the Shatabdi Express on September 26.Residents of Allahabad, Shafeeq Ahmad and Firdaus had come to Lucknow on a visit and boarded Shatabdi Express from Charbagh station on Wednesday.
According to Shafeeq, they were travelling in coach number 3.
"The train was running on schedule and reached Aligarh in the evening, where Firdaus went to the toilet to change. That was the last I saw her," Shafeeq told TOI over telephone from Aligarh on Thursday night."When Firdaus did not return even after the train left Aligarh junction, I went to look for her, but she was untraceable. I approached the train guard and informed him about the incident. Then we all started looking for her. The exercise continued till we reached Delhi," Shafeeq said.Ironically, when Shafeeq tried to get an FIR lodged with the Railway Police in Delhi, he was directed to Aligarh on the ground that since the incident took place in Aligarh, the case will be registered at the Government Railway Police (GRP), Aligarh. With no other option left, Shafeeq then went to Aligarh to lodge FIR with the GRP.According to GRP Aligarh, it is possible that Firdaus went missing when the train stopped at Aligarh junction. "The doors installed in Shatabdi Express are operated mechanically. They can’t be opened while the train is in motion," a GRP sub-inspector on duty told TOI over telephone.
