LUCKNOW: A day after retracting the
bribery charge
against a senior official of
chief minister
's office, 22-year-old
Abhishek Gupta told TOI that he went to meet special secretary for the clearance of his file on land for a petrol pump allotted to him and admitted that there was no talk of any
bribe
.
Abhishek said on Saturday that he had no ulterior or political motive in accusing the official of demanding bribe and taking name of senior BJP leaders as he only wanted to get his work done. "I dreamt of having a fleet of BMWs. Is it wrong to dream? Can an ordinary man not dream big? I want to meet CM and ask this question. I have all permits, all clearances from district administration, but the government raised objections," said Gupta.
"I did my diploma in automobile engineering from
Mathura
. Once during a drive, I noticed that there was no petrol pump on a 25-km stretch from Sandila to Balamau. I purchased land for Rs 3 lakh in January 2014. It has been four years. I took a loan of Rs one crore and have to pay Rs 1.10 lakh instalment every month. I have been running from pillar-to-post for fulfilling my dream and lost patience," said Gupta.
"I got frustrated and hence, on May 28, I decided to call officials and take name of senior BJP leaders to build pressure and get my work done somehow," said Gupta.
On Friday, Abhishek was detained by Lucknow police for questioning on a complaint filed by BJP office in charge Bharat Dixit. He was sent home after questioning. "I am not a criminal. I had purchased the land and then made the set-up with a Rs 1 crore loan. My father works as a clerk in Jhansi court. I belong to a very middle-class family, I never intended to do anything wrong," said Gupta before breaking into tears and rushing out.
