Lucknow: Madiaon police on Sunday arrested a man in the case related to the death of his wife allegedly for dowry.
Akanksha Singh, 25, wife of
Abhishek Singh, a resident of Indrapuri Colony of Madiaon, had died under suspicious circumstances on Friday (Oct 11).
According to police, Akanksha's body was found lying on the floor in the room.
Initial investigation suggested that she committed suicide after a quarrel with her husband.
"The accused, Abhishek Raj Singh, 28, a resident of Indrapuri Colony, is unemployed and has been booked for dowry on the complaint of his father-in-law Mahipal," said SHO Shivanand Mishra.
Earlier, Akanksha's father, Mahipal, informed the police about his daughter's death. Akanksha was married to Abhishek, a resident of Mawai Basantpur in the Mal police station area, in 2021.
He used to work in the parking lot of Amausi Airport and lived in a rented house in Madiaon.
"A few days back, Abhishek lost his job. After this, he, along with his parents, started harassing my daughter for dowry," Mahipal said in the FIR, accusing his son-in-law of beating her to death.
