Lucknow: Sleuths from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence on Thursday morning intercepted two passengers travelling from Kathmandu to Delhi on a bus in Lucknow, and seized 4 kg of
heroin worth Rs 8.34 crore from their luggage.
The officials recovered three packets containing a white powdery substance, which later tested positive for heroin during field examination.
The drug has been confiscated and both individuals carrying the substance have been arrested.
According to official source, the accused are male and female who are in their mid 30s. “We haven’t come across any past criminal history of the two accused. Also the duo claim that it was their first act as drug courier, but we are not sure about it. The probe is still in initial stage,” source said.
In the past five months, the agency has seized a total of 16.1 kg of heroin in four separate cases in Lucknow.
