LUCKNOW: The High Court here, on Tuesday, while permitting Sarita alias Maina Devi to live with her husband Laxman Singh, directed the investigating officer SI Amrit Lal Misra of Gudamba police station, her brother Vishambher Yadav and mother Shyama Dulari not to put any hindrance in her way in living with Laxman Singh or with any other person of her choice.
The bench, comprising Justice Vishnu Sahai and Justice Kamal Kishore, passed the aforesaid order after recording the statement of Maina in the presence of SI Amrit Lal Misra and her brother and mother, while allowing habeas corpus petition filed on her behalf.She was produced before the High Court in pursuance of an order passed on Monday. Sarita alias Maina (20) stated before the court that she had married Laxman Singh and wanted to live with him but had been illegally detained by her brother Vishambhar Yadav. In the petition, it was alleged that after their marriage, both had got registered their marriage before district marriage officer Bara Banki. After marriage, Sarita started living with her husband Laxman Singh but on November 24 last at 3 pm, her brother assaulted her husband and his family members and dragged her from the Laxman''s house in village Duphata under Jahangirabad police circle in Bara Banki district. Laxman had informed the Gudamba police and also sent telegrams to SSP Lucknow on November 25 last. .
Mandi scam: The High Court here on Tuesday issued notices against former minister Naseemuddin Siddiqui, the then chairman, UP Krishi Utpadan Mandi Parishad, Sarojani Agrawal and Indu Singh on an application filed by the state of Uttar Pradesh for condoning delay in filing appeal against their acquittal in multi-crore Unnao Mandi Parishad scam.
The bench, comprising Justice Vishnu Sahai and Justice Kamal Kishore, fixed February 17 next for hearing on the application of the state government and asked the accused persons to file their objections, if any. Government advocate Ashwani Kumar Singh had appeared on behalf of the state and argued the matter. The state government has challenged the judgment of additional sessions judge Lucknow, Kalimullah passed on May 31 last, acquitting Naseemuddin Siddiqui, Saroj Agrawal and Indu Singh in the scam.
