Hazratganj clerk held for promotion racket

LUCKNOW: A senior clerk in the land consolidation department was arrested in Hazratganj on Friday. The arrest of Ashok Kumar Yadav, an accused in a case related to anomalies in promotion of employees of his department, comes after the arrest of assistant director Suresh Singh Yadav in the same case on June 1.
Hazratganj CO Abhay Mishra said Ashok was vested with the responsibility of conducting a typing test required for promotion.
Ashok used to charge Rs 20,000 per candidate to clear them for typing. Suresh would then select them. Ashok had cleared 70 candidates, minting Rs 14 lakh, police said.
