Lucknow: Governor Anandiben Patel on Monday said that unless the Anganwadi centre system is improved, the education system will not strengthen.Addressing students and teachers at Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir, Arjunganj, where she inaugurated a computer lab and the school's website, Patel said, "Anganwadi centres should become a centre of attraction for children." Referring to her work in the Anganwadi sector in Gujarat, she pointed out that anganwadis were linked to universities to incorporate a ‘KG to PG' concept.

Appreciating Vidya Bharti for inculcating value-based education, Patel said, "While modern education and the study of artificial intelligence are essential, we should not forget our cultural heritage and traditions." The governor emphasised that young children should be educated at home about Indian culture, traditions, the Ramayana and Mahabharata, and the scientific contributions of our sages and saints. She also urged the audience to vaccinate girls aged 9 to 14 years to prevent cervical cancer and informed that, with public support, 40,000 girls were vaccinated in the state. The process of vaccination for 1.5 lakh girls was in process with support of the Serum Institute of Pune and Jan Bhavan, she said.
