LUCKNOW: Fingers are being raised on electoral process of UP's provincial medical and health services association (PMHSA). Allegations of gross irregularities including fake voting and favouritism in the process of electing various officer-bearers have been levelled by several candidates who contested elections.
Registrar, firms, societies and chits, Lucknow region, has reportedly found the charges prima-facie true.
The development has zapped the newly elected office-bearers of the PMHSA that represents over 10,000 government doctors.
Deputy registrar, Umashanker Singh has issued a show-cause notice to general secretary, PMHSA, asking him to furnish details in connection with the elections on November 26. The matter was taken up by Singh on the scheduled date when he took into custody votes cast by members in 68 of the the 71 districts. He has also banned the association from undertaking any kind of activity till further orders. December 8 has been fixed as the next date of hearing.
The matter came to fore when Dr Ashok Kumar Yadav, who was contesting for the post of president, shot off a letter to deputy registrar alleging gross anomalies in the election process. When contacted by TOI, Dr Yadav said, "I represented the matter before the election observers but they did not take a note of it. I was then forced to move to the deputy registrar.''
In a separate development, Dr OP Rai who was contesting for the post of vice president also reported a similar complaint. The two parties furnished proofs to support their point. When contacted, Dr BP Singh said, "I think there were anomalies in the process. the result was to be declared jointly by two observers but it was hurriedly declared by the one who is already facing charges of favouritism. I will furnish all the details before the officer very soon.''
