Good edu helps in women making a change, say experts

Lucknow: Good education gives inner strength to women and helps them in taking better control of their lives, empowering them to be change agents of their own lives and the lives of their families and communities, according to educationist Jyotsna Brar.
Addressing the 8th annual Tehrim Dass Memorial Lecture at the Avadh Girls’ Degree College (AGDC) on Tuesday, former principal of Welham Girls’ School, Dehradun, and chief education consultant, ‘LearnEd’, Jyotsna Brar said that knowledge must be rooted in ethics and compassion for others and that learning must be a life-long quest.
This lecture was jointly organised by the Institute for Career Studies and AGDC as a tribute to Tehrim Dass, former member of AGDC management committee. Those present on the occasion included president of AGDC managing committee Zarine Viccajee, secretary Prof Nishi Pandey, and principal Prof Bina Rai. Founder director of ICS Amrita Dass, Kavita Dass, Ajit Dass and other members of Tehrim Dass’s family were also present.
In her introductory words, Amrita Dass recalled the immense impact of her mother’s work in the lives of hundreds of women and families saying, “I pay homage to all mothers and grandmothers who make such a difference to our lives.”
