Fierce battle between BJP, in race to bottom, says Akhilesh

Lucknow: A day after rupee briefly hit the record low of 95-per-dollar mark, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday claimed that the BJP's image has taken a hit and was now competing with the Rupee in a ‘race to the bottom'.

"BJP's image and the rupee are fiercely battling in a race to the bottom," Akhilesh said in a statement. He said BJP's image takes a hit every time cases of corruption and misconduct involving its leaders and associates surface. "Their involvement in corruption is being exposed but resignations of those involved are not happening. BJP has always shown ‘moral bankruptcy' which is now at its peak," Akhilesh said.


The former CM said the faulty policies of BJP govts in the states and the Centre have pushed the country's economy and the people into dire straits.

"As a result, the value of rupee is falling by the day. Inflation is on the rise. One can see people standing in long queues for LPG refills across the country. Govt made no alternate arrangements to tackle the energy crisis that is deepening every passing day as the (US-Iran) war continues and BJP has been misleading the people on the issue," Akhilesh said.

Attacking Modi govt, he said, "India's foreign policy is being decided by other nations. India is the world's largest democracy but in the global crisis arising out of the ongoing war, it has remained as a mute spectator. This devastating war is leaving its impact not only on our economy but the common man in our country as well," Akhilesh said.

‘Didi will script BJP's rout in Bengal'

Lucknow: Referring to the transfer of 173 police officers and 83 BDOs in a day in West Bengal, Akhilesh Yadav said BJP's position in the state was getting from bad to worse. ‘Didi' Mamata Banejrjee will script BJP's rout from the state. "BJP is losing badly in West Bengal. It is being witnessed for the first time that the BJP is making arrangements to make its defeat respectable. This is the special feature of these elections. The recent mass transfers of police and administrative officials are not a mere reshuffle but an electoral jugglery. This has proved one thing: the outcome of assembly elections in West Bengal will not be sweet for the BJP," Akhilesh said.
