EC orders repolling at booth where boy voted multiple times

LUCKNOW: The Election Commission on Tuesday ordered repolling at Khiria Pamaran primary school in Farrukhabad where a 17-year-old son of the village head had allegedly voted multiple times on May 13. The repolling will be held between 7am and 6pm on May 25, said UP chief electoral officer Navdeep Rinwa.

The accused teenager had circulated a video of him pressing the EVM button eight times for a particular candidate. He was detained on Sunday after an FIR was lodged at the Nayagaon police of Aliganj assembly constituency in Etah.

The indelible ink will be marked on the middle finger of the left hand of voters during repolling, said Rinwa.

He added that extensive publicity for repolling will be done and all political parties and candidates have been informed in writing.

Rinwa said necessary security measures will be enforced during the voting process.
