Dutt joins Rajeshwar’s green drive
Sanjay Dutt Backs Net Zero Sarojininagar Campaign at Green Shift Golf Awards in Lucknow
Lucknow: Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt joined Sarojini Nagar MLA Rajeshwar Singh on World Environment Day to promote environmental sustainability and climate action during the Green Shift Golf Tournament Awards held at the Lucknow Golf Club.
Addressing the gathering, Dutt urged people to actively participate in environmental conservation, saying, “Plant a tree and get a magical hug. Protecting the environment is not just the responsibility of govts, but a shared responsibility of all of us.” He also called for expanding the Net Zero movement beyond Sarojini Nagar to the entire country.
The event, organised under the Net Zero Sarojini Nagar initiative, brought together sports, public participation and environmental awareness. Winners across various golf categories were honoured with prizes worth up to ₹6 lakh, including a scooter and other awards.
Rajeshwar Singh described the journey toward net-zero emissions as similar to golf, where consistent small efforts lead to success. He stressed that climate change is a present challenge requiring collective action and highlighted concerns over air pollution, declining groundwater levels and rising carbon emissions.
The programme also featured environmental awareness films, plantation drives and discussions on sustainable development, reinforcing the campaign’s goal of transforming Net Zero Sarojini Nagar into a people-led movement for a greener future.
