LUCKNOW: They came from different political ideologies but agreed on one idea--that student politics is the fifth pillar of democracy.
Speaking at the Lucknow Literature Fest on Sunday , student leaders Shehla Rashid, Anirban Bhattacharya and Saket Bahuguna from Jawaharlal Nehru University , representing different student wings, differed on various issues but said student politics gives voice to their issues and influences education positively and creates better academic culture.

Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad Del hi state secretary Saket Bahuguna said student politics gives solutions and has been successful in getting students justice. “Students politics is actually the foundation of democracy ,“ said Anirban Bhattacharya, adding that student's movements led to fight for justice in Rohith Vehmula case and struggle to find Najeeb Ahmed.
“When we stop questioning, dictatorship arises and when people question together it is democracy ,“ said former JNUSU vice president Shehla Rashid. On being asked if ABVP is anti-feminist as it opposed `Pinjra Tod', break the hostel locks, an online campaign by girl students of Delhi University against the sexist rules, Bahuguna said all through the campaign ABVP was targeted by the “designer feminism“.
