Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh State Institute of Forensic Sciences (UPSIFS) will commence diploma and certificate courses from June-end or July beginning. The decision to start the courses was taken on Monday during the second board meeting of the governing body formed to operate the institute. The meeting was held by ACS home, Awanish Awasthi at the command centre of Lok Bhawan.
Awasthi also said that efforts are being made by the government to start diploma and certificate courses from June-July at another building till the construction of the institute’s building is completed.
Another home department official said that a discussion on nomination of three experts in the forensic science field was also done and a proposal for it was sent to higher authorities for approval.
“Instructions have been given to prepare an action plan for starting teaching work in UPSIFS,” the officer said.
He also said that instructions were given to expedite the work of preparation of rules for selection of educational and non-academic cadres of UPSIFS.
To expedite the construction work, the second instalment of Rs 50 crore was also sanctioned. Under the earlier agreement, AKTU was to give Rs 200 crore without interest to the institute.
