LUCKNOW: Sun block creams and lotions are not a must carry for skin conscious beauties. Indian Army jawans braving the sun and unruly weather conditions at high altitudes will also apply these lotions. The difference is that unlike popular brands, the jawans will carry the ones approved and supplied through proper channel in the army.
A proposal to this effect is being seriously mulled over by the medical wing of the Indian Army.
The army took a note of the suggestion knowing that jawans deputed at higher latitude are prone to skin disorders due to the unfavourable weather conditions.
“Usually when they are at such a great height they are more exposed to sun rays. Their over exposure for long hours results in skin diseases which may lead to skin cancer also,” said Dr Sangeeta Amladi, former professor of dermatology at Sion KEM and Nair Hospital, Mumbai and present head (medical) of Skin Clinic in Mumbai.
She was talking to reporters after her lecture at the ongoing DERMACON-2010, a four-day national conference of Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists on Saturday. Dr Amladi spoke at length about cosmetic dermatology at the conference.
She said: “In Mumbai we have affluent families including bollywood actresses who want their skin to remain glowing.”
She also suggested several tips for wearing make-up for the ladies. “A sensitivity test is a must before wearing any make-up. Climatic condition should also be kept in mind while applying make-up besides the skin type,” she suggested. Last but not the least it is recommended to remove all make-up before going to sleep.
