Daylong event on Shrilal Shukla centenary today

Lucknow: An event has been organised to mark 100th birth anniversary of writer and satirist Shrilal Shukla by the Language, Literature and Culture Cell of Indian Farmers Fertilizer Corporation (IFFCO) at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan on Thursday. The six-session event will begin at 10:30am and comprise a photograph and book exhibition inaugurated by Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha. Actor Pankaj Tripathi and fellow artists will recite an excerpt from Shukla's epic work ‘Raag Darbari'.In the second session, ‘Shrilal Shukla: Kuch Rang, Kuch Raag' from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm, writer and poet Yatindra Mishra will shed light on Shukla's creative journey. Special guests are Lucknow University Vice Chancellor Prof Alok Rai, state minister for cooperative JPS Rathore and state minister of agriculture Surya Pratap Shahi will also express their views in this session. In the ‘Raag Darbari Kal Aaj Aur Kal' session, from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm, chaired by IFFCO Chairman Dilip Sanghani, Padma Shri Malini Awasthi, storyteller Himanshu Vajpayee and litterateur Jai Prakash Kardam will present their views.In next session, from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm, a short film made by poet-filmmaker Devi Prasad Mishra on the life and work of Shrilal Shukla will be screened.‘Shrilal Shukla in the mirror of memories' will begin at 4:30 pm, in which, poet Naresh Saxena, writer-translator Vandana Mishra, writer-editor Akhilesh, storyteller Shivmurthy, radio producer Anamika Srivastava, young writer Utkarsh Shukla and IFFCO managing director Dr Uday Shankar Awasthi will participate. In the sixth and final session from 6 pm to 7 pm, artists of theatre group Darpan Lucknow will present the play ‘Kahani Shivpal Ganj Ki' based on Shrilal Shukla's classic work ‘Raag Darbari'.Organiser of the event Jagmohan said, "Renowned persons will discuss Shrilal Shukla's life and work in a poetry session."
