police station where she was posted, had been harassing her. The constable, Monika (27), deployed as a constable in the CCTNS (crime and criminal tracking networks and systems) cell of Haidergarh police station for past nine months and living at a rented room in Mitaipurwa near the police station, hanged herself on Saturday night.


The incident came to light on Sunday morning when Monica's landlord did not notice any activity and informed police constable Krishna. When the constable went to the room and broke open the door, he found Monika's body hanging from the ceiling fan with a rope. A suicide note was recovered from Monika's room in which she stated that the SHO Parshuram Ojha had been mentally harassing her and denied her leave. She said that the SHO threw her leave application on her face when she gave it to him. She also alleged that the SHO regularly deployed her on 'out' duty . She also said that constable 'moharir' Rukhsar Ahmad ridiculed her for seeking leave. Talking to TOI, Barabanki SP VP Srivastava said, "The SHO and the constable have been sent to lines. A departmental inquiry has also been ordered and a case has been registered. Investigation is under way."

Inspector general of Faizabad range, Onkar Singh said that Monika was a native of Hardoi and was unmarried.
