Cop harassment drives teacher to suicide in UP

LUCKNOW: Upset over harassment and humiliation by an SI, a 35-year-old teacher hanged himself from a tree in Mahoba district of UP on Thursday.
Rajendra Pratap Singh sent a message to his family, accusing SI Devendra Pandey and a liquor vendor, Karan Rajput, of framing him in a fake robbery case. After the family created a ruckus, Mahoba SP Aparna Gupta removed Pandey as the local police outpost in-charge and ordered a probe.
"Karan filed a false complaint accusing my brother of assault and robbery. Thereafter, SI Pandey threatened him in front of his family," elder brother of the deceased, Brajendra Pratap Singh, said.
Senior police officers said the body had been sent for postmortem and cops are trying to find the exact sequence of events.
