lucknow: up chief minister rajnathsingh on saturday dared the opposition to bring the vote of confidence, if itwas at all convinced that his government was in minority after the dismissal ofpower minister naresh agarwal.
in an informal meeting here with, the cmsaid : "i have a support of 240 mlas as against the requisite number of 202 inthe house of 403. i am ready to go in for majority test in the house or paradethe legislators anytime, if asked to do so by the governor," he said.
whenasked to explain his support base, he said it would be disclosed at anappropriate time and also hinted that it would be not surprise for many of thoseopposition leaders if they witnessed split in their parties. "mlas fromdifferent political parties were ready to cross the floor," he said and addedthat the opposition leaders should be more concerned about their house insteadof the bjp.
when asked whether he hinted the possible split in thesamajwadi party and the bsp in the state, he said : "only time will tell aboutit. you just wait and watch."
on the resignation of banwarilal kanchal, bjpmlc and president of the up vypar mandal, the cm said that it would have noconsequence, as a large number of trader organisations had imposed faith in thebjp and assured its full support.
kanchal, is most likely to join hands withnaresh agarwal, who plans to have some truck with the samajwadi party.
thiswas also amply indicated by naresh agarwal himself when he said that he had aharmonious relations with sp chief mulayam singh yadav.
but confidantrajnath singh ruled out all threat to his government while addressing a hugecrowd from hrdoi at his 5 kalidas marg. he said the government would nottolerate on corruption, which he said was the root cause of all the ills in thesociety. the group was led by ganga singh chauwan, bjp mla from hardoi, who hada murderous attack on him some two years ago. he had then accused naresh agarwalof conspiring the attack on him and demanded an inquiry against him.
