Thousands of Muslims staged a protest march on Saturday over the publication of cartoons of Prophet Mohammed.
LUCKNOW: Thousands of Muslims staged a protest march in the state capital on Saturday over the publication of cartoons of Prophet Mohammed in Danish and European newspapers. Carrying placards and raising anti-US and anti-Denmark slogans, they demanded that the respective governments apologise for hurting the religious sentiments of the believers of Islam.
Addressing protesters of various Muslim organisations outside Vidhan Sabha, Naib Imam, Idgah, Maulana Khalid Rashidi Firangi Mahli and Imam, Idgah, Maulana Ahmed Miyan criticised the publication of such caricatures. Maulana Sher Mohammed Madrasa Varisaya interpreted the act as a violation of the religious liberties of believers of God. He said that Prophet Mohammed was sent by Allah as a messenger of peace not only to show the path of righteousness and morality to Muslims but also for the people of other religion. The act would not be liked by any other person from any other religion if it was related to any other God. He demanded the United Nations to intervene and formulate an international law for prohibiting the repetition of any such act.
