LUCKNOW: Unidentified persons broke into a fitness centre at Vibhav Khand in Gomtinagar and decamped with electrical and electronic items, besides Rs 5,000 in cash, in the small hours of Wednesday.
Aparna Upadhyay who owns the centre told police that she found the lock to the main door broken around 7am. Fitness gels and creams were cleaned out from an almirah along with cash.
An electric kettle, a refrigerator, a music system, a CCTV camera, a hard disk and an inverter along with battery were also stolen.
The building that houses the fitness centre is located in an isolated hemmed in by vacant plots and rows of trees. The only other house in the vicinity is rented out and the tenants said they were unaware of a break-in.
Chandra Prabha, sub-inspector Vibhuti Khand police station, said investigation indicated the possibility of an insider role in the crime. "The intruders knew what was kept where because they didn't rummage through the room. They also must have been aware of the timings of the fitness centre. They must have brought a pick-up van to take away all those things," the officer said.
