These heroes risked their lives to save kids from blaze
Jhansi/Lucknow: As the massive blaze engulfed the Jhansi hospital, three brave men — Pushpendra Yadav, Kripal Singh, and Lalit Yadav — emerged as heroes as they risked their lives to rescue newborns trapped inside.
Pushpendra, who reached the hospital after hearing about the incident, said, "There was smoke everywhere. It was hard to breathe and it was all dark inside. I managed to rescue 15 to 20 babies, but some of them died."
Kripal Singh, whose grandson was admitted to the neonatal ward, rushed inside after hearing cries of "fire!" from a nurse. "I saw a chair on fire and immediately put it out. Then I focused on rescuing as many babies as possible. We didn't stop to think whose child it was—we just wanted to save them all," said Singh, who took six babies to safety through a broken window.
Lalit, who was coincidentally outside the hospital when he heard fire sirens. He ran to the hospital and joined the rescue efforts. "I managed to save one child and handed him over to the medical staff," he said. |
