BJP-backed candidates win top posts in UP coop union polls
Lucknow: The BJP-backed candidates Chaudhary Shivendra Singh and Braj Kishore Gupta were formally elected as chairman and vice-chairman, respectively, of UP Cooperative Union on Tuesday.
The two were elected unopposed from among the 14 directors of the union. The remaining 12 directors, also elected unopposed, included Ramniwas Yadav, Balendra Pratap Singh, Dhananjay Kumar Singh, Shivdutt Narayan Singh, Abhay Singh, Hariom Mishra, Suresh Gangwar, Jaiveer Singh Sirohi, Diwakar Mishra, Sharda Chaudhary, Akanksha Sonkar and Ursha Maurya.
UP BJP chief Pankaj Chaudhary and state general secretary (organisation) Dharam Pal Singh termed the victory of party-backed candidates as “historic”. Chaudhary expressed confidence that the new leadership of the union would establish new benchmarks in terms of development, transparency and public service.
Chaudhary said that the unopposed election of all BJP-backed candidates in the UP Cooperative Union elections demonstrated the widespread trust and support that the BJP enjoys within the state’s cooperative sector. “This victory is not merely an organisational success. Rather, it symbolises the public’s faith in the concept of inclusive development through the cooperative movement within the state,” he said.
