Better civic amenities to slums
LUCKNOW: The state government would be diverting 20% of the earmarked funds under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) for the betterment of slums. On Saturday, urban development minister, Nakul Dubey, laid foundation stones for development of civic amenities in slum areas in 16 spots of the state capital.
The areas which were taken up were those in Ismailganj and Chinhat.

Dubey said that about Rs 2.4 crore would be spent on these areas.
Meanwhile, mayor, Dinesh Sharma, too inspected certain areas in the city. The first citizen visited Ramlila-Dussehra ground on Kanpur Road and announced allocation of nearly Rs 10 lakh to be spent on construction of a gate. Another Rs 7.8 lakh were announced for maintenance of the park.
