Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (UP STF) arrested the owner of a nursing institution in Ghazipur, along with his brother in connection with Ayush admission scam late on Friday evening.
According to sources in STF, Vijay Yadav, the owner of the institute, and his brother Dharmendra Yadav, a lecturer in the same college, were called to Lucknow for questioning and were later arrested.
They said Vijay Yadav is the treasurer of the farmers’ wing of the BJP.
Officials said that the arrested accused, in connivance with director, Ayurveda, SN Singh, counselling in charge Umakant Yadav and director of vendor agency, Kuldeep Singh (all arrested earlier), forged the NEET merit list and granted admission to ineligible people on a large scale in his Ayush College.
Twelve people, including SN Singh, Umakant Yadav and Kuldeep Singh, have been arrested so far in connection with the scam.
Vijay Yadav owns about a dozen educational institutions in Ghazipur.
STF officials said that they have found strong evidence of his involvement in the scam.
“It surfaced during the probe that accused SN Singh, in connivance with two other officials and the organizing private firm, Soft Solution Pvt Ltd, reportedly tampered with the data they obtained from the directorate to facilitate undeserving candidates secure admission.
