LUCKNOW: Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav’s daughter-in-law,
Aparna Yadav, who joined the
BJP last week, said on Sunday that the saffron party was required to be brought back to power to “save the nation”.
Speaking at a programme organised by BJP women’s wing in Lucknow, Aparna said that she chose BJP “for the sake of nationalism.” Aparna said BJP under the leadership of PM
Narendra Modi and Chief Minister
Yogi Adityanath has “nurtured” the cultural identity of the country while putting it on the path of development.
Congress’ Rae Bareli MLA Aditi Singh and “Ladki Hun Lad Sakti Hun” mascot Priyanka Maurya, both of whom have defected to the BJP, also attended the programme.
Aditi, who will contest from Rae Bareli Sadar on BJP ticket, lauded the steps taken by the BJP government for the safety of women. “Women have been empowered by getting the benefit of women centric schemes,” she said, highlighting the schemes like Ujjwala, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and Kanya Sumangala Yojana.
Maurya said she chose the Bharatiya Janata Party in the interest of the society and country. She said BJP is a “party of all classes”.
