Presently underground, Madhumani had already applied for arrest stay at the high court and her surrender application is pending before the special CBI magistrate in Lucknow.
While the CBI is hunting for the eyewitness who is sure to trap Madhumani in the murder case, the investigators had also turned the heat against the former minister''s wife who is believed to be in the safe confines of her distant relative in the state capital itself.

Sources said that during quizzing which took place while he was in CBI remand, Amarmani revealed that on the day of Madhumita''s murder Madhumani left home around 12 in the noon in a car driven by their driver Kishore. Much later than the routine time taken in the journey, he learnt that she had reached Gorakhpur.
Immediately after the murder took place, Amarmani too rushed to Gorakhpur with his business partner Manoj Goel and then confronted his wife for her audacity to have had Madhumita eliminated. The situation came to such a pass that Amarmani even allegedly manhandled his wife Madhumani accusing her of the murder.
