400 women make a dash at Agniveer recruitment rally
Lucknow: Lieutenant General Anindya Sengupta, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Central Command, visited the women military police Agniveer recruitment rally organised at the AMC Centre and College in Lucknow Cantonment on Wednesday.A total of 595 candidates were called for the women military police category, of whom 410 appeared for the rally.
The rally, conducted under the aegis of recruiting zone, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, and the recruiting office (headquarters), Lucknow, catered to women candidates from all tehsils of both states who had qualified the combined entrance examination held in July 2025.During his visit, the army commander reviewed the arrangements made for the rally and assessed the new initiatives introduced to make the Indian Army's recruitment process more transparent and efficient. He expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the rally and commended the enthusiasm and preparedness of the candidates.Lt Gen Sengupta highlighted that the induction of women into the combat support arm of the Corps of military police, approved in 2019, reflects a significant institutional transformation within the Indian Army. He said that including women in the CMP not only helps address gender-sensitive situations more effectively but also strengthens the Army's credibility and operational effectiveness. He added that the rising participation of women represents a major step toward building a technologically advanced and socially representative military force.The army commander praised the performance and contribution of women in various army roles, describing their empowerment and involvement in national security as both an operational necessity and a strategic investment.
