LUCKNOW: Three students of
Lucknow University were suspended on Friday for their involvement in the MMS case. Reportedly, a BA I (Hons) girl had accused her classmate, Kapil Yadav, and others, of making video clips of her while a group discussion was taking place inside the classroom.
On the recommendation of the committee probing the issue, Prof U D Mishra, proctor of LU, suspended Kapil Yadav, Surendra Kashyap, BA I (Hons) and Naseem Ahmed, final year BA (Hons).
"As per the investigatiors, the involvement of these students has been found in sending messages and audio recording. Hence, the students have been suspended,'' Mishra said.
As for the threat call made by Kapil Yadav to the victim's father, Prof Mishra was of the view that the matter is not within the jurisdiction of the university. "The committee is yet to give a detailed report on the issue. It is expected to come within three to four days. Then only any confusion over the issue will be cleared,'' he added.
It was on September 23 that a girl student pursuing BA (Hons) had lodged a complaint with the university proctor alleging that the boys had made video clips of her. The university then constituted a three-member committee to probe into the matter. The girl was supported in her complaint by a male student of the same class.
The two students had alleged that Kapil had been threatening to upload those videos on social networking sites.
The victim is a daughter of a former university professor while the accused is the son of a deputy superintendent of police.
The accused had allegedly even threatened the girl's father of dire consequences, when he reported the matter to the university vice-chancellor.
