LUCKNOW: At least 200 shanties were gutted in a massive fire caused by leakage in a cooking cylinder in Manas Vihar Colony, Indiranagar, on Tuesday evening.
No loss to human life was reported in the incident. However, valuables worth thousands of rupees were gutted in the fire.
Thick black smoke engulfed the Manas Vihar following which residents panicked.
They informed the fire department and police. It took three hours to control the fire.
SHO Indiranagar Mukul Verma said that around 3.30pm, a fire broke out in a shanty and spread further. The fire, fuelled by strong breeze, soon engulfed other shanties. The inmates ran out of their dwellings leaving behind all their belongings.
