Lucknow: The 10th Muharam passed off peacefully in state except two minor clashes in Varanasi and Bahraich on Saturday. However, two people got electrocuted and 50 others injured after a loudspeaker kept on a tractor trolley came in contact with a high-tension line during a procession in Amroha.
Special DG, of law and order, Prashant Kumar, said strict vigil of police and administration was maintained across the state along with the deployment of adequate police force in all the zones.
JCP, law and order, Upendra Agarwal, said that in Lucknow police Commissionerate, drones were used for vigil and the social media cell kept eye on rumour-mongering.
A minor clash took place in Pilibhit. Cops were also pelted with bricks. Later, the police force managed to pacify both groups.A stone pelting incident in Bahraich on the Tazia procession by some miscreants was reported. A case was lodged against three people, and one has been arrested. In Varanasi, after a clash took place between two groups. Some bikes and a police vehicle were damaged. tnn
