LUCKNOW: At least 2.25 crore

voters

will decide the fate of 693 candidates, including 90 women, as they vote for the fifth phase of UP assembly

elections

on Sunday.

According to ECI data, at least 1.2 crore voters are male, 1.05 crore female and 1,727 belong to the third gender. EC officials are hopeful of a good turnout on Sunday.

The Election Commission, which has recorded a decline in voting percentage in three phases out of four, expects that districts like Amethi,

Sultanpur

, Chitrakoot, Pratapgarh, Kaushambi, Prayagraj, Barabanki, Ayodhya, Bahraich, Shravasti, and Gonda would receive good turnout clocking at least 60%voting. In 2017, only Barabanki (67.42%),

Shravasti

(63.19%), Ayodhya (60.89%) and

Chitrakoot

(60.61%) had recorded over 60% turnout.

Other constituencies like Amethi (56.59%),

Rae Bareli

(56.63%), Sultanpur (57.48%), Pratapgarh (55.84%), Kaushambi (56.95%), Prayagraj (54.13%), Bahriach (58.67%) and Gonda (57.54%) had recorded less than 60% polling. Polling in all seats of Rae Bareli, except Salon, was held in the fourth phase.

Salon

will go to polls on Sunday.

Chitrakoot in the only district from Bundelkhand which is voting in this phase. Remaining five have voted earlier Congress veteran leader Anugrah Narayan Singh is contesting for the 9th time from Allahabad North assembly constituency.
