SC suspends sentence of TP murder case convict

Kozhikode: Supreme Court on Monday suspended the sentence of Geothi Babu, a convict in the TP Chandrasekharan murder case. A bench comprising Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice Satish Chandra Sharma also granted interim bail to Babu till a final decision is taken on his appeal.He had approached the SC seeking bail citing health conditions, including kidney ailment. Earlier, the SC had called for a report from the Kannur medical college on the health condition of the 65-year-old convict. The trial court had acquitted Babu in the case but in 2024 the Kerala high court set aside the acquittal of Babu and another accused and sentenced them to life imprisonment.
