KVK organises Swachhta Pakhwada programme on mushroom cultivation
KOZHIKODE: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Indian Institute of Spices Research (IISR), Peruvannamuzhi conducted one day training programme on “Mushroom cultivation” as a method of organic agricultural waste management. The programme was inaugurated by Dr P Ratha Krishnan, programme coordinator, KVK, Peruvannamuzhi and Ms T.K.
The training programme was organised under Swachhta Pakhwada programme and ATMA scheme.

The awareness class on importance of segregating decomposable and non-decomposable wastes at home level was conducted by P Ratha Krishnan. A class on edible mushroom types, Oyster mushroom cultivation using paddy straw and innovative methods of mushroom production at homestead level were covered during the training.
A practical session on mushroom bed preparation was demonstrated by Bindu Aju, a progressive mushroom cultivating farmer. The participants were also provided with mushroom spawn for immediate production of Mushroom at their houses.
Framers hailing from Muthuvallore grama Panchayat, Malapuram, Vengeri and Kuttiyady of Kozhikode participated in the training.
